I have often been asked, "Why do I do this?" I have only one answer: God. The Lord put it into my heart and life when He sent me to India in 2017. Once there, I got to work and share the gospel with prostitutes and their children in the district of Navi Mumbai-based in Turbhe Red Light slum. I saw victims of human trafficking living in bondage, some as young as eight years old; this nearly broke me. I was crushed in spirit, outraged, and frustrated. I watched a man take a child by the hand into a brothel to violate her, and I could do nothing. Helpless, I could not save her from the man or this place of evil influence. However, not Hopeless. I got an epiphany that I wasn't there to save anyone but to be used by God so that He could.
On the plane ride home, I prayed and asked God how I could prevent just "One" child from enduring this kind of evil. Six months later, "One Child at a Time" was founded. January 18, 2018, to be exact. I would get another opportunity to learn more about human trafficking a month later in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in the red light district. Here is the moment God revealed His plan for my life and One Child at a Time. There, in Cambodia, I learned that it is easier to prevent human trafficking through education than it is to rescue.
I have a master's degree in Human Services Counseling: Crisis Response and Trauma from Liberty University. In 2020, I received a Board-Certified Human Trafficking Investigator Certificate through McAfee Institute and am a licensed South Carolina Private Investigator (#RD246138 through Canaan Investigative Group). I am currently enrolled in the Ph.D. program at Liberty University in the Criminal Justice program.
God is Faithful! Thank you in advance for your love, prayers, and support! Together, we can eradicate this evil from our community!
